The problems they had all night with her PORT have been solved with some medicine and time to dissolve a possible clot in the tube which leads to her heart. It is working properly again. She has been getting some naps to recover from a sleepless night.
None of the test run have been able to identify the cause of the fungal infection, nor where it had been residing, other than in her blood. Going forward they will be treating this infection with two drugs, one is a pill the other is IV only.
Currently the plan is to let her come home on Wednesday after her treatments late in the day. One complication to her coming home is the fact that medicare does not cover the costs, therefore it will not allow for home IV infusion. She will have to come back to the BMT Clinic every day for this infusion which she must have until her numbers fall into the negative on the fungus problem. This seems like a lot of trouble until you know that a fungal infection, if left uncontrolled, would certainly be fatal. Hopefully this treatment will not be required indefinitely.
Napping while working on one of the granddaughters quilts.......is good therapy.

Diane is very thankful for any well wishes, even if she is not able to respond to all of them.
