PORT difficult, parade, home

Yesterday, we got all packed up and met with the doctor, pharmacist and signed release papers.  Then they had to redress and change the needle in the PORT. Two stabs and no success. Another nurse came in, checked the xray on the computer, both nurses discussed the difficulty and then Dr. Gabby came in. They looked it over and made a plan considering the past trouble, John took the third kit and needle and made the attempt........ and it was successful!  Yea! Diane was relieved  as much as John was. John was almost ready to do a hail Mary down the hall.

We left the hospital almost two hours late and headed for the Bountiful parade, Dianes favorite holiday event. I had to make every effort to make that happen. We got there with time to spare, parked fairly close and had a great hot dinner which Haline had prepared waiting for us.  It was delicious.  Thanks Hal.

Following the parade, we headed for home, it was great to be there finally. The first thing she wanted to do was to have a popsicle and sit on the front porch. We did until the dang mosquitos stated to come out. I don't like them, but they don't seem to bother Diane; they probably know if they bite her they would likely die from the poisonous chemo she is loaded with.

This morning we are back to the hospital (no holiday for the BMT Clinic) by 8 am for chemo, meds and platelets and to watch the parade on TV. (and nap) After this we are heading to the park  as we usually do, to see all our Bountiful friends.  Dr. Gabby saw me in the hall and was happy to learn we had gotten her to the parade.  She knew how important it was to her. All the staff on East 8 are the best of the best, our first hand experience......

Diane is very thankful for any well wishes, even if she is not able to respond to all of them.
