Test results, treatment begins

Some test results came back late today. Infectious disease doctors team came in and then consulted with the marrow doctors. Cultures came back negative. Blood test came back with a very positive marker for a fungal infection in the blood. This is like the dangerous one she had in December and January. They are going to start two IV antifungals tonight. They are also going to do two CAT SCANS, one of her sinus and one of her chest.  They need to find out where this fungus is residing. She got this while on the Noxafil (antifungal), this med may have quit working. These new ones are only given in IV.

Although we had to come back from Bear Lake, this is something they needed to get right on, without delay.  Fungal infections most often become fatal. She did get to go and got to do the things she loves with the family.  If this had happened last week, she wouldn't have gotten to go at all. She keeps asking, "why not next week"-we are not in control......

Started one new med at 8 pm, within just a few seconds she said her head and neck were on fire and they were red, the nurse came right back on and turned it off. The feeling began to leave and the doctor was called.

Doctor said to give her tylenol and benedryl, wait 45 min, and try it again slower. If she still feels like this at 9, they will put it off longer. She tolerated it before, in here in Dec. Going to hold off because she is fervering  with tylenol on board. Sending more cultures to the lab.

It's 10pm, just restarted the med slower and it is going fine.

Keep praying, we need them now, for sure. Thanks in advance.

Diane is very thankful for any well wishes, even if she is not able to respond to all of them.
