Run down, numbers low, getting blood

She was getting pretty run down the last few days.  Today we came in for labs and found her numbers were low. They used to give her blood when her hematocrit was below 24. We have found out that at that point she is almost not able to function. We discussed that with them a couple weeks ago and since then they have agreed and have changed her cut point to 26. She has been able to function much better between transfusion times. Her stamina has improved and she has been able to eat a little better. So today she is getting a pint. (I think they say that in Ireland too, but that's talking about the bitters.) This pint is different in her case but it does give her a buzz of sorts! We have become grateful for all those who give blood as we see the direct benefits of donating.

Diane is very thankful for any well wishes, even if she is not able to respond to all of them.
